Stauf SMP 950: Hard-Elastic 1K SMP Parquet Adhesive According to ISO 17178
What is Stauf SMP 950?
Stauf SMP 950 is a hard-elastic, single-component SMP parquet adhesive that complies with the ISO 17178 standard. This adhesive is specially developed for bonding various types of parquet, including end-grain floors, mosaic parquet, multilayer parquet, and solid planks. Stauf SMP 950 offers an integrated moisture barrier, fast strength development, and is easy to spread with excellent adhesive edges. The adhesive contains no solvents, has very low emissions, and can be applied on almost all substrates without a primer. The beige-colored adhesive is not frost-sensitive and suitable for use with underfloor heating.
How does Stauf SMP 950 work?
Stauf SMP 950 is applied with a suitable trowel in a smooth motion, distributing the adhesive evenly over the substrate. The parquet must be placed in the adhesive bed within an open time of 20 minutes at 20°C and pressed firmly. The product cures by reacting with moisture from the ambient air, the wood, or the substrate, meaning that a higher ambient temperature accelerates curing. The adhesive is suitable for bonding various types of parquet on substrates such as concrete, cast asphalt, wooden floors, and cement screeds. After 12 to 24 hours, the floor is load-bearing and can be sanded after 24-48 hours.
Benefits and Properties
Stauf SMP 950 offers several benefits, such as fast strength development, good spreadability, and an integrated moisture barrier. The product is resistant to aging, does not cause wood swelling, and is suitable for use with underfloor heating. The adhesive is ready for use, easy to remove, and free from harmful emissions (Emicode EC1 Plus). The SMP 950 provides high strength combined with useful elasticity, making it suitable for both residential and commercial applications.
Instructions for Use
For optimal adhesion, the substrate should be carefully prepared. It must be clean, dry, dust-free, flat, and free of cracks. The adhesive is applied with a suitable trowel depending on the flooring and substrate. Parquet must be placed in the adhesive bed within 20 minutes and pressed down well. Make sure that no adhesive gets between the joints, especially with unfinished parquet, to avoid negative reactions with later finishing products. Remove excess adhesive immediately with a suitable STAUF cleaner. The floor is load-bearing after 12-24 hours and can be sanded after 24-48 hours.
Maintenance or Advice
Stauf SMP 950 should be stored dry and cool, with a shelf life of 12 months. For optimal processing temperature, the ambient climate should be at least 18°C, with a maximum humidity of 75%. The product can be applied on most substrates without primer, but it is important to test the suitability of the adhesive with specific floor coverings in advance. If in doubt, always consult the technical documentation or contact the manufacturer for advice. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme temperatures during processing.
