Stauf D 50: Fiber-Reinforced Adhesive for PVC Design Floors
What is Stauf D 50?
Stauf D 50 is a fiber-reinforced dispersion adhesive specifically developed for PVC design floors such as LVT, homogeneous and heterogeneous PVC, and PVC sports floors used in both point-elastic and area-elastic constructions. This adhesive offers high final strength, excellent dimensional stability, and good spreadability. Stauf D 50 is suitable for various substrates, including calcium sulfate screeds, cement screeds, plank floors, chipboard, OSB boards, and plasterboard without coating. The adhesive is available in 6 kg and 14 kg buckets and has a shelf life of 9 months if stored under the right conditions (frost-free, dry, and cool).
How does Stauf D 50 work?
Stauf D 50 is applied with a suitable notched trowel on a well-prepared substrate. The recommended laying time varies from 5 to 20 minutes at a temperature of 20 °C, depending on the substrate and environmental conditions. The adhesive has an airing time of 5 to 10 minutes. After application, the floor covering is pressed firmly to ensure full bonding. Within 24 hours, the bonded floor is fully loadable, and joints can be welded after a minimum of 48 hours. The fiber-reinforced composition of Stauf D 50 provides stable adhesion, even on sensitive or demanding floors.
Benefits and Features
Stauf D 50 offers various benefits, including high final strength and excellent dimensional stability, making it ideal for use on PVC design floors. The adhesive has low emissions (EC1 plus certified) and is suitable for use with underfloor heating and chair casters according to DIN 12592. The good spreading properties ensure uniform coverage and adhesion to the substrate. Stauf D 50 is resistant to aging, contributing to the durability of the installation. The product is user-friendly, easy to apply, and provides reliable, long-lasting adhesion for various flooring applications.
Instructions for Use
Before applying Stauf D 50, the substrate must comply with DIN 18365, meaning it must be dry, clean, flat, dust-free, and sufficiently rough. Apply the adhesive evenly with a suitable notched trowel, avoiding puddles or glue nests. After the specified airing time, lay the floor covering within the laying time and press it firmly. Air bubbles should be removed by pressing firmly, for example, with a cork board. Always follow the instructions of the manufacturer and those of the floor supplier to achieve the best results.
Maintenance or Advice
For optimal adhesion and durability, Stauf D 50 should be stored in a frost-free, dry, and cool environment. Ensure that the ambient temperature during use is at least 18 °C, with a maximum humidity of 75%. The adhesive must be protected from frost during transport and storage. Always check the suitability of the substrate for use and ensure proper preparation, such as leveling cracks and holes with a suitable Stauf product. Follow the flooring manufacturer's recommendations for laying and use.
