What is Stauf VEP 195?

Stauf VEP 195 is a 2-component (2K) epoxy resin primer that is free of water and solvents, specifically designed to strengthen subfloors and create a moisture barrier on substrates with residual moisture. This primer has a high penetration capacity and provides excellent adhesion to various substrates such as concrete, cast asphalt, anhydrite screeds, and various wood-based materials. Stauf VEP 195 can also be used as a moisture barrier on cement screeds with a residual moisture content of up to 98% RH (5%-CM) and is suitable as a primer before leveling with Stauf leveling products or bonding with Stauf PU, SPU, or SMP parquet adhesives.

How does Stauf VEP 195 work?

Stauf VEP 195 should be mixed in a ratio of 2:1 (component A: component B) and stirred well until a uniform color is visible. After mixing, the primer can be applied to the substrate with a suitable roller, avoiding puddles. The primer creates a water vapor-retarding layer that reduces the spread of moisture from the substrate. For use as a moisture barrier, a second layer is applied after a drying time of at least 12 hours and up to 48 hours. Quartz sand can be sprinkled to improve adhesion. Stauf VEP 195 provides excellent protection against moisture problems and strengthens the substrate, making this primer ideal for critical applications.

Instructions for Use

Before applying Stauf VEP 195, substrates must be checked and prepared according to DIN 18356 and DIN 18365 standards. The substrate must be clean, dry, dust-free, crack-free, and sufficiently rough. Mix components A and B in the indicated ratio (2:1) and apply the primer evenly with a suitable roller. When used as a moisture barrier, a second layer can be applied, followed by the sprinkling of quartz sand for better adhesion. The drying time of the first layer is about 16 hours at 20°C. The surface should be covered within 24 to 72 hours with suitable Stauf adhesives or leveling products for optimal results.

Maintenance and Advice

Stauf VEP 195 has a shelf life of 12 months when stored in dry and cool conditions. The product should not be exposed to frost. Always check environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity during application to ensure optimal curing. For use on cement layers with residual moisture, it is important to follow the correct procedures and possibly seek professional advice. Ensure that the substrate is free of dust and dirt, and use the primer within the recommended pot life (30-45 minutes at 20°C) to ensure the best performance.
