Bona Natural Primer: Waterborne Primer for Untreated Wooden Floors

What is Bona Natural Primer?

Bona Natural Primer is a pigmented, waterborne primer specifically designed to maintain the natural appearance of untreated wooden floors. This primer offers a light, untreated look and can be applied in one or two coats, depending on the desired result. The product is easy to apply with a Bona Roller and can be combined with various Bona lacquers, such as Bona Traffic HD Raw, Bona Traffic HD Extra Matte, or Bona Mega ONE Extra Matte, for a durable finish. Bona Natural Primer is certified with the GreenGuard label for low indoor emissions, making it safe for use in various environments.

Benefits and Features

Bona Natural Primer offers several benefits. The product is easy to apply and dries within 2 to 3 hours, depending on the ambient temperature and humidity. This primer preserves the light, untreated appearance of the wood, which is especially suitable for light wood species like oak. Bona Natural Primer is a one-component waterborne polyurethane/acrylate primer with a solid content of 30%, which contributes to a smooth and even finish. The product is safe for indoor use and has very low emissions, ensuring better indoor air quality.

How the Product Works

Bona Natural Primer can be easily applied to untreated wood using a Bona Roller (microfiber/fleece) or T-bar applicator. Before use, the primer should be well-shaken and possibly filtered through a paint strainer to minimize the risk of contamination. Apply the primer at a rate of 10-12 m² per liter and allow it to dry for 2-3 hours. For an optimal finish, it is recommended to sand between coats with fine sandpaper. Bona Natural Primer can be combined with Bona lacquers for additional protection and to achieve the desired appearance.

Instructions for Use

Before using Bona Natural Primer, the surface to be treated should be properly prepared. Ensure the wood is dry, clean, and free from dust, oil, wax, and other contaminants. Apply the primer with the grain of the wood and avoid product buildup. For optimal adhesion and finish, it is important to use the product under the right conditions: a temperature between 18-25°C and a relative humidity of 30-60%. After applying the primer, a lacquer should always be used to protect the floor from wear and contaminants.

Maintenance and Advice

Bona Natural Primer should always be covered with a suitable Bona lacquer to protect the floor from wear and daily use. The product should not be used as a final layer. To maintain the natural appearance and protection of the floor, it is recommended to use Bona Traffic HD Raw, Bona Traffic HD Extra Matte, or Bona Mega ONE Extra Matte as a topcoat. It is important not to apply more than two coats of primer per day to prevent excessive wood movement and to ensure that the product dries properly under the right conditions.
