Designed for seamless integration with Bona's waterborne finishes, this primer offers a low-VOC solution, making it a safer choice for both residential and commercial spaces. With its easy application and quick drying time, Bona Amber is a practical option for both professional floor experts and DIY enthusiasts looking to achieve a stunning wooden floor finish.

How Bona Amber Works

The Bona Amber Primer penetrates deeply into wood, creating a protective layer that enhances resistance to wear and potential damage. This primer is intended to be paired with Bona waterborne finishes to maximize its effect. At an ideal room temperature of 20°C and 60% humidity, Bona Amber dries to the touch within 1-2 hours and is ready for recoating after 4-6 hours. Note that environmental conditions can affect drying times, with warmer, drier conditions accelerating the process.

Available in various sheen levels, including satin and gloss finishes.

Application Instructions

For optimal results, ensure the wooden floor is properly prepared. The surface should be well acclimatized, sanded, dry, and free from dust, oil, wax, or other contaminants. Use the Bona Scrad System or sanding mesh grit P120 for the final sanding. Bring the Bona Amber to room temperature and shake well before application. Apply evenly, maintaining a wet-on-wet technique to prevent overlaps. On highly absorbent woods or special surfaces like end grain, consider using more product or applying an additional layer of Bona Prime Amberseal for enhanced color depth.

Treatment Schedule

Bona Amber should not be used as a standalone finish. After its application, follow up with a Bona finish. The typical treatment schedule involves a first coat of Bona Amber, followed by intermediate sanding with a Scrad Pad + Wing 150 or sanding net K150. A second coat is applied after 4-6 hours of drying. If recoating the next day, lightly sand the floor first. Finally, apply one or two coats of Bona finish based on the desired appearance and durability. Maintain the floor with Bona maintenance products for lasting beauty.
