Stauf SPU 460: Hard 1K SPU Parquet Adhesive According to ISO 17178
What is Stauf SPU 460?
Stauf SPU 460 is a hard, single-component SPU parquet adhesive that complies with the ISO 17178 standard. This adhesive is specially developed for bonding various types of parquet, including mosaic strips, solid planks, multilayer parquet, and unfinished strip parquet. Stauf SPU 460 offers fast strength development and high resistance to lateral forces, without harmful interactions with cast asphalt or old substrates. The product is solvent-free, has very low emissions, and can be applied to almost all substrates without a primer. This adhesive is available in a beige color, as well as a dark variant (SPU 460 E) for darker wood types.
How does Stauf SPU 460 work?
Stauf SPU 460 is applied with a suitable notched trowel, spreading the adhesive evenly in a smooth motion over the substrate. The adhesive has an open time of 20 minutes at 20°C and must be processed within this time. The parquet is placed in the adhesive bed and pressed firmly, after which the adhesive cures through a reaction with moisture from the environment, the wood, or the substrate. Stauf SPU 460 is suitable for use on various substrates such as concrete, cast asphalt, wooden floors, and cement screeds. After 24 hours, the floor is load-bearing, and the parquet can be sanded.
Benefits and Properties
Stauf SPU 460 offers multiple benefits, such as high strength, excellent adhesive edges, and good resistance to lateral forces. The adhesive does not cause wood swelling, is resistant to aging, and is suitable for use with underfloor heating. The product is ready to use, easy to apply, and provides durable bonding without harmful interactions with substrates. The adhesive is solvent-free and environmentally friendly with very low emissions (Emicode EC1 Plus), making it suitable for both residential and commercial applications.
Instructions for Use
For optimal results, the substrate must be solid, dry, dust-free, and crack-free. Stauf SPU 460 can be applied to almost all substrates without a primer. Apply the adhesive with a suitable notched trowel, avoiding puddles and accumulations. The parquet must be placed in the adhesive bed and pressed firmly within the open time of 20 minutes. Any adhesive residues should be removed immediately to prevent damage to the floor finish. After 24 hours, the floor is load-bearing, and the parquet can be sanded if necessary.
Maintenance or Advice
Stauf SPU 460 should be stored in a dry, cool place, with a shelf life of 12 months. Ensure a minimum processing temperature of 18°C and a maximum humidity of 75% for the best results. Test the compatibility of the adhesive with specific floor coverings prior to installation. For questions about specific applications or further instructions, consult the technical documentation or contact the manufacturer. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and extreme temperatures during storage and processing.
