What is the Bona Mega?

Bona Mega is a one-component, waterborne finish that is ideal for both commercial locations with medium foot traffic and for more heavily trafficked floors in residential homes. This innovative finish contains an oil-modified polyurethane that reacts with oxygen in the air, allowing it to perform like a two-component finish, without the need for mixing. Bona Mega is specifically designed for use on wooden floors, including plank floors and floors with underfloor heating. It offers excellent resistance to scuffs and chemicals and is GreenGuard certified for low indoor emissions.

How the product works

Bona Mega forms a durable protective layer that protects the wooden floor from wear, scuffs, and daily use. The finish can be used directly from the can without the need for mixing or dilution. For optimal application, Bona Mega is applied with a Bona Microfleece Roller, with a recommended coverage of 8-10 m² per liter. The finish dries quickly, with a drying time of 2-3 hours for a new coat and full cure after about 7 days. During application, a "wet edge" should be maintained to avoid overlaps, and the floor should be well-ventilated to optimize drying time.

Instructions for use

Before use, Bona Mega should be shaken well for one minute. Apply the finish evenly with a Bona Microfleece Roller, with a recommended coverage of 8-10 m² per liter. Roll alternately with and across the grain to avoid buildup of the product. Ensure good ventilation during drying and wait at least 2-3 hours before applying a new coat. If necessary, sand between coats with the Bona Scrad System grit 150 or finer. The floor can be lightly walked on after about 8 hours, but is fully cured after approximately 7 days.

Maintenance and advice

For best results, no more than two full coats of Bona Mega should be applied per day to avoid excessive wood expansion. Ensure that any spills are removed immediately to prevent stains or damage. It is important to maintain the floor regularly with the correct products, such as Bona cleaning and maintenance products, to protect the finish. Note that plasticizers and other materials like rubber tires and hair dyes can cause permanent discoloration. Use protective pads or avoid direct contact with these materials.
