Bona D500 Dispersion Primer: Preparation for Parquet Adhesives
What is Bona D500 Dispersion Primer?
Bona D500 Dispersion Primer is a water-based primer specifically developed for use with Bona D720 parquet adhesive. This primer is suitable for various absorbent and non-absorbent substrates, such as cement, anhydrite, mastic asphalt, wooden substrates, and V100 chipboards. The product is solvent-free, water-permeable, and easy to apply. With its universal applicability and EC1 certification, Bona D500 meets high environmental and health standards. This primer ensures optimal adhesion of the parquet adhesive to the substrate, resulting in a stable and durable floor installation.
How the Product Works
Bona D500 Dispersion Primer is diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio and applied evenly to the substrate using a brush, roller, or broom. The product should be spread without build-ups or puddles and dries to a transparent film. The drying time varies depending on the substrate: for cement, it can be between 1 and 24 hours, depending on the absorbency and ambient temperature. For moisture-sensitive substrates such as anhydrite (tiles) and in high-risk parquet installations, a minimum drying time of 24 hours is recommended, and for chipboards, 48 hours. After complete drying, the substrate is ready for parquet installation with Bona D720 parquet adhesive.
Benefits and Features
Bona D500 Dispersion Primer offers various benefits for both professional and private users. It is solvent-free and has a low VOC emission, making it suitable for environmentally friendly applications. The product is easy to apply, dries quickly, and ensures optimal adhesion of the parquet adhesive. It can be used on various substrates, including those with underfloor heating, as long as the floor temperature does not exceed 20°C. With a density of 1.0 g/cm³ and a stable, easy-to-brush viscosity, Bona D500 is a reliable choice for various flooring applications.
Instructions for Use
Before using Bona D500 Dispersion Primer, the substrate must comply with DIN 18356 standards: level, dry, clean, crack-free, tensile and compressive strength, and not too smooth or rough. Mix the primer with water in a 1:1 ratio and apply it with a brush, roller, or broom. Avoid build-ups and puddles, and allow the product to dry to a transparent film. Consider climatic conditions such as a minimum air temperature of 18°C and a floor temperature of at least 15°C. After complete drying, the parquet can be glued with Bona D720.
Maintenance and Advice
When using Bona D500 Dispersion Primer, it is important to maintain the correct climatic conditions and apply the primer carefully to ensure optimal adhesion. Keep the ambient temperature between +5°C and +25°C and ensure that the primer does not come into contact with freezing or extreme heat. The product has a shelf life of 12 months from the production date in unopened original packaging. Excess material can be cleaned with water. For safe handling of the product, follow the safety instructions and store the material in a dry, well-ventilated place.
