How to prepare natural stone for a new sealer?

The challenge of preparing natural stone

Natural stone surfaces, such as marble, travertine, and other calcareous stones, require special care when applying a new impregnation layer. The biggest challenge is that old impregnation layers, dirt, and cleaner residues must be thoroughly removed first. If this is not done properly, the new impregnation layer may not adhere correctly, resulting in an uneven finish and reduced protection. This is especially important in high-traffic areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways, where floors are frequently exposed to heavy use and moisture.

Effective cleaning with HMK R155 Intensive Cleaner

HMK R155 Intensive Cleaner provides the ideal solution for preparing natural stone for a new impregnation layer. This acid-free, intensive cleaner is specifically designed for calcareous stones such as marble and travertine, but it also works well on tiles and pavers. HMK R155 removes light cement residues, construction dirt, and old wax layers without damaging the stone. The cleaner is easy to use and effective: dilute the product based on the level of contamination (1:1 for heavy soiling, up to 1:20 for light soiling), apply with a mop or soft sponge, let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes (without drying), scrub the surface, and rinse thoroughly with clean water. For best results, repeat the process until the surface is completely clean and ready for a new impregnation layer.
